Opel STX Concept previews next Astra Sports Tourer

Opel unveiled the STX concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, presenting a fully electric Sports Tourer designed to preview styling cues for a future Astra Sports Tourer.

The Mondial de l'Auto runs October 12-18 at Porte de Versailles in Paris. Stellantis brought more than 60 vehicles and nine new concepts; Opel's stand also shows the final livery of the GSE 27FE Formula E car and the new Corsa GSE hot hatch.

The STX name stands for Sports Tourer eXperimental. Opel says the concept "presents a vision for future estate cars at the Paris Motor Show: bolder, purer, even more emotional, and pure efficiency."

Opel says the concept advances the Vizor front fascia, making it higher and more prominent, and adds a new lighting signature with an illuminated Opel Blitz logo. The company treats the hood crease as a separate design element called the Opel Compass; slim, illuminated compass axes and an illuminated OPEL wordmark appear at the rear.

Horizontal LED taillights echo the front's lamella look. C-pillars include glass light strips that protrude from the window line into the roof. Illuminated STX letters appear on the flanks and cameras replace conventional exterior mirrors.

The STX includes aerodynamic measures Opel says reduce consumption and increase range and directional stability, including three-piece aero wheels shod with 285/35 R22 Goodyear tyres, an active rear aero system with moving elements and blue-coloured diffusers that extend at speed, and vertical bumper elements behind the wheels that extend sideways to the rear.

Opel says the STX is fully electric, equipped with all-wheel drive and has a top speed of more than 200 kph (124 mph).

Inside, Opel continues its "Painting with Light" concept introduced on the 2023 Opel Experimental and the 2025 Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo, with immersive lighting elements and special lightweight seats taken to a further stage of development.

Opel notes its historical role in the estate segment, tracing back to the 1953 Opel Olympia Rekord Caravan. The manufacturer did not disclose battery capacity, power output or official range for the STX concept.
