Qualcomm announced it has renewed its global patent licensing agreement with Apple, effective April 1, 2027.

The press release included a one-line quote: "We are pleased to extend the Apple license agreement", Qualcomm Executive Vice President and General Manager of Qualcomm Technology Licensing, John Han, said.

Qualcomm and Apple did not disclose the terms; the company described the agreement as confidential.

The renewal follows a 2019 settlement under which Apple agreed to pay Qualcomm royalties for its patents.

That 2019 agreement contained an extension option that Apple exercised in 2024, moving its end to the end of March 2027.

The new agreement ensures continuity of patent licensing between the companies; financial terms remain undisclosed.

If Apple stops using Qualcomm modems, it would still be required to pay Qualcomm an undisclosed amount for use of its patents.
