Italian designer Pezzotta Riccardo, posting as rpz.dsgn, has released a digital concept that reimagines a motorsport-focused Range Rover called the Range Rover Recovery. The renderings place a solar array across the body, leave the roof clear for a British flag motif with integrated LED lighting, and show a high-technology cockpit paired with premium materials. The project frames the design as a way to ask how Range Rover could revisit the Dakar Rally after fifty years while staying true to its heritage.
Context within Land Rover's broader plans
The Recovery concept arrives while Land Rover pursues a wide set of production and heritage initiatives. Defender Classic recently introduced an upgrade program for certain model years that culminates in a 405-horsepower Defender Works V8 conversion that also includes a complete chassis swap. A compact, so-called "baby" Land Rover is in prototype testing and has been spotted at and around the Nürburgring Nordschleife; sources suggest potential names such as Defender Sport or Defender 80, though Land Rover has not confirmed those badges.

Separately, Jaguar Land Rover and Stellantis have signed an agreement to produce Land Rover models in the United States, a deal that has spawned unconfirmed reports claiming a Defender pickup could be an early product of that collaboration. For the Range Rover family, Land Rover has launched Electric models for the full-size Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport, and it has teased a fifth family member called the Range Rover GT. The GT has been shown in light camouflage with a fastback profile more akin to a sedan than a conventional SUV; Land Rover indicates an electric variant will arrive first with a hybrid to follow.

The Recovery concept and its intent
Pezzotta describes the Recovery concept as a study from historical research through 3D modeling and final renderings. He asks, "How can an iconic brand like Range Rover return to the Dakar Rally after fifty years, remaining true to its DNA while adapting to the demands of modern competition?" According to the presentation, the design deliberately mixes rugged, rally-ready cues with Range Rover luxury, and it integrates visible solar panels on body surfaces while reserving the roof for the illuminated British flag treatment.
This is an unofficial digital project by an independent designer, not an announced Land Rover program.
