Tesla reported 486,532 vehicle deliveries in the third quarter of 2026 on October 2, outpacing Wall Street analysts' average estimate of 457,000 and the company-compiled consensus of 462,000.
Tesla produced 464,391 vehicles in Q3 2026 and delivered 486,532, a result about 2% below the Q3 2025 figure but 1.2% higher than the previous quarter. The gap between production and deliveries indicates inventories have largely been drawn down, and the company says delivery estimates for most models and markets are now pushed beyond January 2027.
Investors reacted positively: Tesla shares jumped roughly 5% to $371 after the delivery numbers were released, a sharp contrast with the market response to Tesla's stronger-than-expected second-quarter result earlier in the year, when more than 480,000 deliveries were reported and the stock fell about 7% minutes after the announcement.

Regional trends and inventory
Rising fuel prices, driven in part by tensions in the Middle East and shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, coincided with a marked shift toward electric vehicles in Europe. Tesla's registrations in the European Union rose by about two-thirds through August, according to the company update, and the automaker recorded 13.7 GWh of energy storage deployments in the quarter. With fuel prices remaining elevated, Tesla needs roughly 311,500 deliveries in the fourth quarter to surpass its 2025 annual total.

Other models and the Cybertruck
The company flagged a subdued "Other Models" category. Tesla stopped production of the Model S and Model X in April, so those nameplates likely contributed little, if at all, to Q3 volumes. That leaves the Cybertruck as the primary source for units outside the core models, with Cybercab and Semi volumes described as rounding errors.

The Cybertruck Standard AWD, priced at $59,990, began deliveries this summer and quickly showed as sold out for 2026 on Tesla's website despite a stated production capacity of 125,000 trucks per year. The pattern in availability has been interpreted as a deliberate restriction of the lower-priced Cybertruck to limit losses.
Tesla will stream its Q3 Company Update live on X on October 21 at 4:30pm.
