Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo LWB adds 335 hp 4Motion AWD

The long-wheelbase Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo arrives with a 250 kW (335 hp) 4Motion all-wheel-drive option, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles opens pre-sales for the AWD model on 23 September 2026 with a German starting price of €50,630.

The LWB variant expands the ID. Buzz Cargo line-up by increasing usable volume and offering both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive powertrains. Volkswagen says the new model’s cargo compartment grows to 4.4 cubic metres, while the AWD version—marketed with 250 kW—will be first to market; the RWD version follows one week later with a German base price of €48,490. The United Kingdom is scheduled to follow in early 2027, with local pricing to be announced in spring.

Cargo, dimensions and payload

The longer wheelbase adds roughly 0.5 cubic metres of load volume versus the standard wheelbase, yielding a stated 4.4 cubic metres (more than 155 cubic feet). Load area length is now 2,458 mm (96.8 inches), 250 mm longer than before, and the LWB comes with a wooden floor as standard. Volkswagen also fits a longer second sliding door as standard—the aperture is 19 cm (7.48 inches) longer—so a standard Euro pallet can be loaded through the side door.

The LWB Cargo offers a maximum payload of 700 kg for the RWD version and 606 kg for the AWD, which Volkswagen lists as 1,534 pounds and 1,336 pounds respectively. Customers can specify two or three front seats and choose rear wing doors as an option. Volkswagen quotes an additional list-price cost of about €2,340 in Germany for the long-wheelbase variant over the normal wheelbase model.

Powertrain, battery and features

In addition to the AWD 250 kW (340 PS / 335 hp) set-up, Volkswagen offers a lower-output system rated at 210 kW (286 PS / 282 hp). The LWB gains an optional larger 86-kWh battery pack alongside the 79 kWh standard pack. Volkswagen has not published an official WLTP range figure for the larger- battery LWB model.

The larger ID. Buzz Cargo carries a maximum towing capacity of 1,800 kg (3,968 lbs). Equipment highlights include the latest optional Travel Assist with added traffic-light recognition, a one-pedal driving mode, and a newly added Vehicle-to-Load function capable of supplying up to 3 kW in continuous operation.

The long-wheelbase ID. Buzz Cargo pairs a larger 86-kWh battery and up to 250 kW of system power with a 4.4 cubic metre load bay and a standard second sliding door designed to accept a Euro pallet.

Pre-sales for the AWD LWB start 23 September 2026 in Germany; the RWD LWB follows about a week later, and Volkswagen says the UK launch will arrive in early 2027 with details to be released in spring.
