iQOO 16 debuts world-first 2K 165Hz Samsung display

iQOO confirmed at a Samsung Display × iQOO screen technology event on Sep 14, 2026 that the iQOO 16 will be the world’s first smartphone to use a 2K 165Hz display built on Samsung's LEAD 2.0 panel technology developed with iQOO.

The partnership covers Samsung's M16 luminescent material, a custom high-refresh-rate IC for the panel and a dedicated production line for iQOO flagship phones, iQOO said.

The panel offers 1.24 times P3 gamut coverage with screen-by-screen calibration. iQOO said color uniformity has improved by 39.6% and brightness uniformity by 22.3% versus the previous generation.

iQOO said it uses an in-house color and brightness compensation algorithm to calibrate at the sub-pixel level and claims a color accuracy of ± 0.001; independent testing will be required to confirm real-world performance.

iQOO said the display achieves a 100% first-frame brightness ratio, which the company claims is the highest in the industry. The phone uses a new touch chip with 5000Hz instantaneous touch sampling and 500Hz multi-finger sampling.

For gaming, iQOO will include Q-flex control technology to reduce input latency between touch and on-screen action.

iQOO said the iQOO 16 will be the first Android phone to use Samsung’s M16 luminescent material. The M16 report first surfaced in August when display details leaked.

The panel supports 1,100 nits of manual peak brightness, 2,800 nits of global peak brightness and up to 10,000 nits of local peak brightness, iQOO said.

Other display features listed by iQOO include three-photosensitive full-area light sensing, an unpolarized natural light display, full-brightness DC dimming, PWM dimming up to 3300Hz and a gaming glare protection mode.
