FineMTEC, a South Korean component maker linked by market reports to Apple's new foldable iPhone Duo, has publicly rejected responsibility for early reports of inner-display damage and said it may pursue legal action against those spreading false information.
Supplier statement and technical position
FineMTEC, also called Fine M-Tec, issued an official statement titled 'Official Position Regarding Customer’s New Product Quality Issue.' The company said the recent quality problems reported with certain foldable phones were not caused by defects in the parts it supplied. FineMTEC makes the internal backplates and hinge-related metal plates that help support foldable OLED displays, and it noted that determining whether a specific component is responsible for a finished-product fault requires proper technical checks. Foldable phones combine many components and depend on precise mechanical design, the statement said, and it is therefore not appropriate to single out a single part without a full investigation.

FineMTEC said its parts meet the customer’s technical specifications and quality standards through strict control processes.
In the same notice, FineMTEC warned it is considering civil and criminal legal action against anyone who writes or deliberately spreads false information that harms its reputation and credit. The company did not name Apple or the iPhone Duo in the statement, despite market reports linking its parts to that model.
Apple response and reported display issues
Apple has acknowledged that a small number of iPhone Duo units are experiencing problems with the inner display and is advising affected customers to contact AppleCare for free replacements. Users in several countries have reported cracks along the central crease or bright lines appearing after a limited number of folds, according to those reports.
