Meta unveils 100g VR Glasses and camera-free Ray-Ban Audio

At Meta Connect 2026, Meta announced two new smart glasses: the Meta VR Glasses, a lightweight display-equipped headset that pairs with an external computing puck, and the camera-free, audio-only Ray-Ban Meta Audio. Meta VR Glasses

The Meta VR Glasses use a two-part design in which the frames house the displays and sensors while a separate puck provides computing, storage and the battery. The glasses link to the puck via an optical cable, a division Meta says lets the eyewear itself weigh just 100 grams. The displays are micro OLED panels with 5K resolution and 37 pixels per degree, supporting Dolby Vision. Pixels per degree is a measure of how much detail the display shows across the user’s field of view.

Speakers embedded in the frames support Dolby Atmos spatial audio. Meta has integrated its Meta AI agent into the operating system, and the built-in sensors enable control by eye movements and hand gestures. Meta says the headset is powered by the newly announced Snapdragon Reality Elite chipset and can run for up to three hours when connected to the puck. The puck supports 45W fast charging.

The VR Glasses are IMAX Enhanced certified, and Meta says they support 3D movies and games via Xbox Cloud Gaming. The company also demonstrated a feature called Hologram Calling, which it describes as producing a photorealistic representation of the user for video calls, with real-time facial expressions and reactions. Meta has set availability for Spring 2027, with US pricing starting at $1,299.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio

Meta also introduced its first camera-free, audio-only Ray-Ban Meta Audio. The new Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses weigh 43 grams and are described as delivering up to 12 hours of use on a single charge and up to 48 hours with the included charging case. They will be offered in 23 color and lens combinations across new Clubmaster and Burbank styles.

Meta has priced the Ray-Ban Meta Audio at $349, with sales beginning on October 13.
