GAC has introduced the Aion Ray 7, a fastback electric sedan that pairs a Huawei DriveONE powertrain with long-range LFP battery options, claiming up to 702 km CLTC range. Pre-sales began on 17 October 2026, with official deliveries scheduled for 12 November 2026 in China.

Exterior packaging and dimensions

The Ray 7 uses a stretched, low-slung fastback silhouette and a new Quantum Star Ring front graphic. Narrow daytime running lights, a full-width light bar and an illuminated GAC badge define the face, while large lower bumper intakes and flow-control channels appear in the lower fascia. The side profile features a gently sloping roof, semi-concealed door handles, twin five-spoke wheels and yellow brake calipers. Rear detailing includes continuous tail lamps and an AION badge. GAC states a drag coefficient of 0.22.

Measured dimensions are 4,960 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,455 mm tall, with a 2,920 mm wheelbase.

Powertrain, efficiency and batteries

The Ray 7 is rear-wheel drive and uses a Huawei-built electric motor integrated with the DriveONE system. GAC provides the following manufacturer figures:

  • Max power: 180 kW (about 241 hp)
  • Torque: 235 N m
  • 0-100 km/h: 6.9 to 7.4 seconds, depending on trim

GAC also cites a 28-in-1 integrated thermal management system. Claimed energy consumption under the China CLTC cycle is 9.7 kWh per 100 km.

The Ray 7 is offered with two lithium iron phosphate battery options. The base pack, supplied by Inpow, is rated at 530 km CLTC. A larger LFP pack from CATL is rated at 702 km CLTC. GAC notes these figures are CLTC laboratory results and that real-world range may be lower.

Interior technology, driver assistance and market timing

The cabin follows a minimalist layout with a digital instrument cluster, a large floating center display and a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel. The interior list includes integrated sport seats, wireless phone charging and storage compartments.

For driver assistance, the Ray 7 carries a 27-sensor suite that includes a Huawei 192-line lidar and three 4D millimeter-wave radars. GAC says the vehicle uses driving algorithms developed for WeRide's level-4 autonomous taxi programs; the manufacturer highlights capabilities such as navigating complex urban routes, automated parking and smart gate passing.

Pre-sales opened on 17 October 2026 across five trims, with pre-sale pricing from 128,800 to 158,800 yuan, approximately 19,200 to 23,700 USD. GAC plans an official market launch in China on 12 November 2026. The company reported sales of 42,357 vehicles in October 2026, a year-on-year increase of 56.79 percent.
