Poco F9 Ultra Promises Massive Battery, Less Drop Proof

Imagine picking up a phone on Friday and not worrying about a charger until Monday. That is the headline from a fresh EPREL listing that leaked ahead of tomorrow’s Poco F9 Ultra reveal.

A leap in stamina, a step back in toughness

The European energy label gives the F9 Ultra an A for energy efficiency and an eye-catching endurance figure: 80 hours 44 minutes of runtime, up from 67 hours on the Poco F8 Ultra. Short version: stamina has improved a lot. The cell behind that jump measures 8,050 milliampere-hours, which is considerably larger than the 6,500mAh pack in the F8 Ultra but still shy of the 9,070mAh battery found in the Redmi K100 Pro Max platform it borrows from.

Battery lifespan is unchanged on paper: the label rates the pack for 1,000 full charge cycles. That should translate to years of routine use before capacity fades noticeably. In everyday terms, users who binge-stream, game, or rely on long commutes will notice the difference.

But there’s a trade-off. Drop resistance fell from an A on the 2025 model to a C for the F9 Ultra. That’s not a tiny detail. It means the phone may be less likely to survive slips and tumbles as gracefully as its predecessor. At least IP68 dust and water protection remains intact, and repairability holds steady with a C score, so water exposure and serviceability aren’t getting worse.

Poco has already confirmed one other piece of the puzzle: the F9 Ultra will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The sibling device, the Poco F9 Pro, is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series and, according to leaks, a 6,330mAh battery.

So what should you take away? If you prize endurance above all, the F9 Ultra looks like a major step forward. If you’re clumsy or drop-prone, you might want a case—or to rethink priorities. Either way, the official unveiling is hours away, and that is when the marketing polish will meet the leaked spec sheet. Expect confirmation and finer details tomorrow.
