German tuner PerformMaster has lifted the Mercedes-AMG SL 63’s output to 794 hp (805 ps/592 kW) and 719 lb-ft (975 Nm) of torque, and it claims a 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 kph) time of 3.0 seconds. The upgrade uses a turbo package and a PEC Performance System, according to the company.

The result is a V8 roadster that, PerformMaster says, can match the acceleration of many older supercars. That boost still leaves the factory electrified SL 63 S E Performance ahead on paper; Mercedes-AMG’s plug-in hybrid is rated at 805 hp (816 ps/601 kW) and 1,048 lb-ft (1,420 Nm) and is quoted at 62 mph in 2.8 seconds.

The tuned car sits on the current-generation R232 SL, which first appeared in October 2021 and entered production at Mercedes‑Benz’s Bremen plant in March 2022. Unlike earlier SLs, the R232 is offered exclusively in AMG specification and is built as a two-door 2+2 roadster in standard form. The Mercedes‑Maybach SL variant is the two-seat version. Depending on trim the R232 is available with rear-wheel drive or AMG 4Matic plus all-wheel drive, and all versions use the MSA platform shared with the two-door modern GT.

Factory performance and pricing remain part of the context for any aftermarket tune. In the United States the base SL 43, powered by a four‑cylinder that Mercedes quotes at 416 hp and 0 to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds, starts at $114,900 before destination and options. The V8 SL 55 lists at $147,750 with 469 hp and a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.8 seconds. Mercedes quotes the conventionally aspirated SL 63 at 577 hp and says it is three tenths of a second quicker than the SL 55; the SL 63 carries a U.S. starting price of $190,500. The PHEV SL 63 S E Performance starts at $207,900, and the Mercedes‑Maybach SL Roadster begins at $225,900, the latter sharing the SL 63’s V8 and quoted 0 to 60 mph time of 4.0 seconds.

PerformMaster’s modification is focused on powertrain work rather than visual overhaul. The tuner says the displayed car retains stock exterior panels and trim items delivered from the factory, including the Panamericana grille, bumpers, hood, mirror housings, side skirts, and rear diffuser. The interior likewise remains unmodified in the pictured example.

PerformMaster supports the engine upgrades with a vehicle-specific TUV certificate and an engine warranty of up to 24 months or 100,000 kilometres (62,137 miles), and pricing for the package had not been published at the time of the announcement.

For context, PerformMaster’s claimed acceleration puts the SL 63 ahead of the Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder in a straight line by a narrow margin: the Huracan Evo Spyder is quoted at 0 to 62 mph in 3.1 seconds, with a 5.2 litre naturally aspirated V10 producing 631 hp (640 ps/470 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) and a top speed of 202 mph (325 kph).

PerformMaster’s offering is aimed at owners who prefer to keep the SL’s factory appearance while extracting substantially more thrust from its twin‑turbo V8. The tuner’s documentation and warranty terms provide the formal assurances it says accompany the upgrade; the company had not released customer pricing when it announced the tune.
