The most notable development is a new, unofficial CGI of a 2029 BMW 5 Series by Georgia-based industrial designer Giorgi Tedoradze, known online as tedoradze.giorgi, which imagines the executive sedan abandoning the Neue Klasse design language in favor of a more traditional BMW front end and a sportier rear treatment. The image set was discussed in a story published 25 October 2026 by Aurel Niculescu and is a designer concept, not a manufacturer announcement.
Context: company moves and the 5 Series lifecycle
BMW is navigating several parallel developments. Reports say the company is offering a voluntary severance package worth up to $730,000 to about 8,000 employees who opt to leave by the end of 2027, an offer that appears to vary by age, salary, and tenure. At the same time BMW has a roadmap of product activity that includes a mid-cycle refresh of the current eighth-generation G60 5 Series, new or refreshed versions of the 5 Series, ICE and EV variants of an all-new BMW M3, and a larger SUV that could be badged X9 and built on the CLAR architecture with gasoline engines for the US market to compete with models such as the Audi Q9 and the Cadillac Escalade.

Spy photographs of 5 Series prototypes indicate that the forthcoming Life Cycle Impulse - LCI - will bring the G60 more in line with BMW's Neue Klasse design ethos. That alignment is the company direction reported by photographers and industry observers; the CGI by Tedoradze presents an intentionally different, hypothetical path.
This CGI is an unofficial concept by Giorgi Tedoradze and does not represent confirmed BMW design direction.
Alternative 2029 design by Giorgi Tedoradze
In Tedoradze's proposal the 5 Series returns to physical, modernized "angel eyes" lighting and three-dimensional, regular-size kidney grilles rather than the larger, flatter treatments associated with Neue Klasse examples. The front fascia is dominated by large vents in the bumper, suggesting a more aggressive, performance-oriented look. The side profile shows a high beltline and a low, sculpted body line intended to convey athleticism without the overtly compact proportions seen in some recent BMWs.

The rear treatment in the renderings features slim L-shaped LED taillights and a subtle ducktail trunk lid, paired with a pronounced bumper that integrates a large, motorsport-inspired diffuser. The image set also includes dual exhaust outlets incorporated into the diffuser, which the designer presents to indicate an internal combustion engine or an electrified ICE model rather than the dedicated BMW i5 electric variant. The design is clearly a creative exercise in visual direction rather than a technical statement about powertrains or production intent.

The CGI comes from a digital car content creator whose work lives primarily in virtual presentations and social media. It stands apart from BMW's reported LCI plans and official preview materials, and should be read as a designer's personal interpretation of what a future 5 Series might look like if BMW chose a different aesthetic direction.
