Imagine a smartphone that looks less like a gadget and more like a pocket museum. Gold leaf. Hand-applied enamel. Faces from cinema history catching the light. That’s the pitch from Caviar, the Russian house known for dressing flagship phones in artisan luxury.
When jewelry craft meets foldable tech
Caviar has unveiled the Legends series: three bespoke takes on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 family, including a variant built on the Z Fold 8 Ultra chassis. Each design draws on a distinct cinematic icon — Scarface, The Godfather, and the Joker — and translates those characters into elaborate metalwork and cloisonné-style enamel panels. The result reads like a fusion of haute joaillerie and collectible cinema memorabilia.

There’s real craft behind the spectacle. The rear panels are replaced with custom art created using hot enameling, a traditional jewelry technique where colored enamel is set by hand into fine metal partitions. Frames, edges, and the camera module receive 24-karat gold plating, while some backgrounds use guilloché patterns to catch the light in subtle, deliberate ways.
Why this matters to more than collectors? Because the phone becomes a statement, not merely a tool. It’s about provenance and personality, about owning something deliberately rare in an era of mass-produced glass and aluminum.

The Scarface and The Godfather versions are built on the standard Z Fold 8 platform. Scarface features a white-suited Tony Montana motif against a gold guilloché backdrop. The Godfather model portrays Don Vito Corleone in formal dress, accented with a small red rose and puppet-thread motifs drawn from the film’s iconography. Both models start at €11,681 for the 256 GB configuration.
The Joker edition uses the Z Fold 8 Ultra as its canvas. Purple, green, and deep maroon enamel depict the Joker holding a fan of playing cards, set against a geometric background that gives the piece visual depth. That model begins at €12,081 for the 256 GB version.

Production is intentionally tiny. Only 19 examples of each design will be made, and every phone ships in a bespoke box that includes a gold-plated key as part of the presentation.
These are limited-run objets d'art, aimed at collectors who prize craftsmanship and cinematic cachet over mainstream practicality.
Launched alongside Samsung’s global rollout of the new foldables, Caviar’s Legends series shows how far the luxury-phone market can stretch: turning high-end hardware into a canvas for storytelling, and asking buyers to pay not just for specs but for an ownership story they cannot replicate.
