Galaxy S27 Ultra keeps 5x 1 - 2.52-inch telephoto, says Ice

The Galaxy S27 Ultra will retain the 5x 1/2.52-inch telephoto module used in the S26 Ultra, Ice Universe says.

Ice Universe directly refutes a recent rumor that Samsung would swap that module for a shorter 4x lens paired with a larger 1/1.9-inch sensor, calling the claim "100% false," says Ice. The clarification appears in reporting tied to the broader S27 leaks.

The item was posted by Peter on 14 September 2026 on Samsung Android Rumors. The original rumor specifically proposed a 4x/1/1.9-inch replacement; Ice Universe denies that change while leaving other reported camera adjustments unaddressed.

The leakster did not comment on a separate report that Samsung will remove the 3x 10MP telephoto module, so that component is likely to go. The article states that its absence will not be felt, given how good the 200MP main camera is at smaller zoom levels.

CAD renders show Samsung reshuffling the camera positions on the S27 Ultra, a move presented as both a visual refresh and a mechanical one to give magnetic accessories more clearance. The current Magnet Wireless Battery Pack requires an awkward cutout to clear the S26 Ultra camera placement, the report notes.

Galaxy S27 Pro cameras

Separately, previous leaks indicate the Galaxy S27 Pro will include only a 3x 12MP telephoto camera alongside a 200MP main sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide. That configuration leaves the S27 Ultra with a clear advantage for longer-range zoom, the reporting says.

So while the S27 Ultra should maintain an edge over the S27 Pro in zoom capability, according to these reports that advantage will not come from a new telephoto module.
