Samsung's Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to ship with an upgraded privacy screen called "Privacy Display v2", according to tipster Sawyergalox. The same source says the feature will also appear on the Galaxy S27 Pro, a wider rollout than the original Privacy Display received.
The first-generation Privacy Display uses Samsung Display's Flex Magic Pixel tech to narrow the panel's viewing angles. Viewed straight on the content remains clear; viewed from the side the screen darkens so bystanders find it harder to read. Users can enable the effect for the whole display or limit it to notifications and selected sensitive apps.
The cited motivation for a revision is that the original implementation made the image look softer and less sharp when the privacy mode was active. The privacy function worked well, but it came with a noticeable drop in perceived picture quality even for the person looking directly at the screen.

What Privacy Display v2 aims to change
According to the tip, Privacy Display v2 targets three areas: better viewing angles, higher effective resolution while the feature is on, and an overall clearer, sharper image. Better viewing angles suggests the display will maintain privacy at off-axis positions without shrinking the useful angle so aggressively. Higher resolution while the feature is active implies the panel will present more detail even when the privacy filters are applied. Clearer, sharper image quality describes a general reduction in the softness that users reported with the earlier implementation.
The same leak includes a tentative US price range of $1,400 to $1,500 and a February 2027 launch window. The phones are expected to run One UI 9.5 based on Android 17. As with other prelaunch reports, these details are unofficial and subject to change ahead of any formal announcement.
