Huawei has opened pre-orders in China for the Pura 90 Plus and released the phone's first official teaser. The new model joins the Pura 90 family launched in April but differs from its siblings by abandoning the flat-edge design in favor of a curved frame and rounded back.

Design and availability

Pre-orders began at 10:08 today through Huawei's VMall online store, Experience Stores, and other authorized retailers, with the company offering exclusive benefits to early buyers. Huawei says the phone will officially launch next week, with shipments expected before November 8. The teaser images show the Pura 90 Plus in Sunset Purple, a purple-to-orange gradient also offered on the Pura 90 Pro Max. The rear camera module retains the series' inverted triangle layout in the upper-right corner, keeping the design consistent with the rest of the lineup while the curved metal frame and rounded rear echo the shape of the earlier Pura 80 Pro.

Rumored hardware

Huawei has not yet published full hardware details for the Pura 90 Plus, and specifications remain unconfirmed. The device is reportedly codenamed Lucia and is expected to sit between the standard Pura 90 and the Pura 90 Pro in the lineup. Pricing is still unknown; for reference, the Pura 90 Pro starts at 5,499 yuan while the standard Pura 90 starts at 4,699 yuan.

Leaks claim the Pura 90 Plus will include a 50MP 1-inch RYYB main camera with a physical variable aperture. RYYB sensors replace some green pixels with yellow ones to capture more light, and a physical variable aperture lets the lens adjust how much light enters and alters depth of field. The reported camera array also lists a 48MP macro telephoto camera, a 40MP ultra-wide camera, and a 1.5MP multispectral sensor, and Huawei is said to be introducing a new version of its XMAGE imaging algorithm.

On the performance side, the phone is tipped to use Huawei's Kirin 9020 chip with eight CPU cores clocked at 2.5GHz, 2.15GHz, and 1.6GHz, paired with a Maleoon 920 GPU. The display is reportedly a 6.8-inch panel with a 1.5K resolution. Huawei is expected to confirm the Pura 90 Plus's complete specifications and pricing at next week's launch event.
