These OnePlus Phones Miss Out on ColorOS 17 Upgrade

It’s a tough pill for a chunk of OnePlus owners: the next big system update will arrive as ColorOS 17, not OxygenOS 17. The company says the rollout starts in the coming weeks, but many devices won’t make the cut.

Short version: if your phone’s last major update was OxygenOS 16, it probably won’t get ColorOS 17. That’s the technical boundary OnePlus is using to decide which models move forward. The result is a list that includes several recent flagships, a few Nord phones, and a pair of tablets.

Who misses out and what that means

Devices that received OxygenOS 16 but are excluded from ColorOS 17 include the OnePlus 11R, OnePlus 10R, OnePlus 10T, OnePlus 10 Pro, OnePlus Nord 3, OnePlus Nord CE 4, OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite, OnePlus Pad, and OnePlus Pad Go. If your model appears here, don’t panic—security patches should continue for a while—but the fresh features, visual changes, and AI tools bundled into ColorOS 17 will be off limits.

Why does this matter? Major platform upgrades are where manufacturers introduce new interfaces, system-level AI, and performance optimizations. Missing an upgrade means missing months or years of feature development. It also changes the trade-off many buyers consider: buy a newer handset now, or hold on and miss out on the latest software experience.

One bright spot: OnePlus still guarantees up to four major Android upgrades for a number of recent flagships and some Nord models. That policy remains a practical selling point — you don’t always need the most expensive device to secure longer software support.
