Today in China, Redmi unveiled the K90 Ultra, a handset that leans into practical engineering rather than chasing headline specs alone. At its heart sits Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite, not the newest silicon on the block, but paired with an unusual companion—a built-in active cooling fan Redmi says can shave up to 10°C off peak temperatures. That is a deliberate move. Heat equals throttling, and throttling ruins long sessions of intense play. So they added mechanical cooling plus a standalone D2 interpolation chip tuned for gaming visuals and responsiveness.
The display reads like a gamer’s wishlist. A 6.83-inch flat AMOLED panel with a 1280 by 2772 resolution and up to 165Hz refresh rate. Bright? Yes. Redmi claims a 3,500-nit peak. Gentle on the eyes? Full-array DC dimming is included, which helps avoid flicker at low brightness.

One practical caveat: Redmi’s K90 Ultra looks aimed squarely at the Chinese market. An official global release seems unlikely. The more realistic outcome is a relaunch under Poco in some regions, albeit possibly with tweaked specs or a different name. So if you live outside China, patience or importing are the options.
