What Samsung's Galaxy S27 Leak Reveals About Cameras

Leaks have a way of turning waitlists into watercooler talk. This time, the rumor mill points a clear lens at Samsung's next flagship family: the Galaxy S27 lineup. The chatter centers on camera hardware, and if the whispers are accurate, Samsung is reshuffling the optical deck rather than reinventing it.

Zoom choices, sensor swaps, and the S Pen question

At the heart of the story is a 50MP ultrawide for the S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, reportedly built around Sony's IMX855 1/2.55-inch sensor. Crisp detail in a wider frame. Nice. The Pro and Ultra appear to share at least one zoom camera, but the Ultra may pack a second telephoto lens—something that would set it apart from the Pro. Two telephotos. One big difference.

Earlier leaks hinted the Ultra might carry three rear cameras with only one true telephoto. Now the picture is fuzzier again. Which version is correct? We don't know yet. What seems consistent is Samsung putting different optical tools into each model to justify the Ultra's premium positioning.

The S27 and S27+ are not left out of the upgrade chatter. A new 50MP main sensor from Sony is said to land in both devices, replacing the current setup. Expect improved detail and low-light performance if Sony's hardware proves to be the real deal.

Selfie shooters get attention too. Both the Pro and Ultra are rumored to use a 16MP autofocus front camera. Another thread in the leaks concerns accessories and positioning. The S27 Pro could be the odd one out by lacking S Pen support, while the Ultra keeps that hallmark. It's a familiar move from previous generations: give the Ultra the stationery crown, and let the Pro stay focused on camera balance.

Timing-wise, the Galaxy S27 series is expected to debut in early 2027. Internally, the four models reportedly carry codenames NM1 through NM4—NM for "new miracle" or "next miracle"—with NM1 as the base S27 and NM4 as the Ultra. Cute naming, but real users will care less about labels and more about how these cameras perform when it matters most: on vacations, in dim restaurants, and on chaotic city streets.
