Tesla has not enabled ordering, preorders, or an official waitlist for its humanoid robot Optimus despite multiple media reports that a signup list would go live in early December. The reports said the waitlist might open around the Humanoids Summit on December 1 and 2, where Tesla was expected to show the robot's hardware.

Tesla has not opened orders or confirmed pricing for Optimus and has issued no official waitlist or preorder details.

The report that prompted the coverage came from Modar Alaei, described as a Silicon Valley technology entrepreneur, investor in humanoid robotics and an organizer of the Humanoids Summit. Alaei said an initial registration window for ordinary customers could begin in early December. On November 1 Elon Musk replied to a question on the social network X about whether customers could place orders in December by writing only the single word 'No'.

Order status and price uncertainty

To date Tesla has published no official statement announcing the launch of a waitlist, any requirement for prepayment or a final price for Optimus. The suggestion that a waitlist would open in connection with the summit rests on Alaei's report, which did not cite an official Tesla source.

Musk's one word 'No' explicitly addressed whether customers could place orders in December, but it does not rule out other forms of registration. Tesla could, for example, open a nonbinding waitlist during the summit without enabling firm orders. Alaei also said the initial production run would be allocated mostly to companies and businesses, with a smaller share for individual buyers, a plan Tesla has not confirmed.

Reports have repeatedly mentioned a roughly $20,000 price for Optimus, but that figure remains unverified. The number circulated before the recent timing debate and Tesla has not announced official pricing for any version of the robot.

Optimus V3 and delivery timing

Elon Musk has given a broad delivery window of late 2027 for Optimus to customers, saying initial deliveries to companies outside Tesla could begin around that time and sales to ordinary consumers might follow. He added that meeting these goals depends on resolving technical challenges tied to the robot's onboard artificial intelligence, its runtime on a single battery charge and its electromechanical design. Runtime per charge refers to how long the robot can operate before it needs recharging.

Alaei's report specifically named Optimus V3 as the first generation Tesla would take to market, but Tesla has not confirmed that designation. Tesla's earlier experiences with preorders and registration for other products, including the initial registration wave for the Roadster, show that publicly stated schedules do not always match product availability. For a definitive timeline and any ordering process, an official announcement from Tesla is still required.
