Imagine paying nearly €700 for a handset that’s basically a 2024 HTC dressed in gold with a political logo. That shock is landing for anyone who missed the initial launch. The Trump Mobile T1 arrived in June for about €463, but the price has quietly climbed to roughly €697.

Sticker shock for a repackaged flagship

The specs read like a mid-to-upper-tier Android from 2024. A 6.78-inch AMOLED display runs at 120Hz. Under the hood sits a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. Storage tops out at 512GB. Camera hardware is generous on paper: a 50MP main, an 8MP ultrawide, a 50MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom, and a 50MP selfie camera. Battery capacity is 5,000 mAh with 30W wired charging, and the phone boots Android 15.

So what changed besides the sticker? Practically nothing. The hardware is familiar. The finish is new. The logo is new. And the price is new.

Is this a collectible? Perhaps for a certain audience. Is it a smart purchase for most smartphone shoppers? Probably not. The device feels like a stylistic relaunch rather than a meaningful upgrade.

You'd have to be a very committed fan to justify the new price.
