American Honda has begun delivering the 2027 Honda Civic sedan and hatchback to US dealerships, and the range now includes a new Sport-L trim that slots between the Sport and Sport Hybrid models. The Sport-L’s sedan price of $28,495 puts it just below $28,500, and Honda says the updated lineup is headed to showrooms now, with the Sport-L rolling out by the end of the year.
Honda places the 2027 Civic family alongside other recent model-year updates, including the refreshed 2027 Passport TrailSport and the revised 2027 Civic Type R. American Honda highlighted strong recent sales as context for the launch: the Honda brand rose almost 18% in September 2026 to nearly 112,000 units, posted more than 358,000 deliveries in the third quarter (its best Q3 since 2019), and reached 1,045,593 year-to-date sales, up almost 5% year-over-year. Over the past nine months the Civic series itself is up more than 5% to over 195,000 units, according to American Honda.

Pricing, powertrains and what the Sport-L adds
The 2027 Civic Sedan range begins with the LX at an MSRP of $24,995, excluding a $1,295 destination charge. The Sport starts at $26,995 and the new Sport-L at $28,495; those three sedan trims use Honda’s 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Hybrid sedan versions are offered as Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid, starting at $29,695 and $32,695 respectively.

Hatchback prices are higher, with Sport, Sport-L, Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid models ranging from $28,195 up to $33,895. The first-ever Civic Sport-L brings select premium features previously reserved for the Sport Touring Hybrid, including leather upholstery, heated front seats, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, a passenger-side seatback pocket, illuminated vanity mirrors and silver-colored interior trim.
The new Sport-L trim slots between the Sport and Sport Hybrid models and starts at an MSRP of $28,495 for the sedan.

American Honda quoted Luis Guerra, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, saying, "Civic has earned its place as America's best-selling compact car by delivering the fun, efficiency and value that customers expect from Honda. With the new Civic Sport-L, we're making some of Civic's most desirable premium features more accessible, giving buyers another smart reason to choose Civic."

On the technology front, Honda says the Sport Touring Hybrid gains the new Honda S+ Shift system that was introduced on the 2026 Honda Prelude. Honda describes S+ Shift as technology that "simulates a performance transmission for the ultimate electrified Honda driving experience, including virtual rev-matched downshifts and gear holding, plus enhanced engine sounds." That description reflects the manufacturer’s characterization of the feature.
