Hyundai unveiled the refreshed Bayon at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, presenting a sharper, more angular interpretation of its Art of Steel design and a revised powertrain line-up that includes a hybrid arriving in 2027. Hyundai describes the model as more than an update rather than a formal second generation.

Design and dimensions

Visually the Bayon adopts a boxier silhouette with sharper lines intended to replace the softer, more rounded appearance of the previous model. Hyundai highlights changes to the exterior proportions while retaining the model's compact footprint. The new underpinnings use a longer wheelbase of 2,600 mm.

Hyundai publishes body measurements of 2,245 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width and up to 1,565 mm in height with roof rails. The manufacturer says rear legroom has increased but does not provide a specific rear-seat measurement.

Interior and equipment

The Bayon receives a clearer premium push inside with a 12.3-inch curved display setup covering infotainment and the instrument cluster and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Rear passengers gain reclining, heated seats, a center armrest and dedicated air ducts. Front seats can be ventilated and heated, and a Bose eight-speaker sound system and an openable panoramic sunroof are offered.

Hyundai will offer multiple trim levels for Europe, with the N Line positioned as the sporty headline variant. Factory-fit N Line items include 18-inch wheels, a black roof, dedicated lower-bumper winglets and a rear diffuser that integrates twin exhaust outlets. Inside the N Line there are cloth and textile suede seats.

Powertrains and market availability

Hyundai will initially offer two 1.0-liter internal combustion engines with distinct outputs and shared transmission options. A heavier-hitting hybrid joins the line-up later in 2027.

  • 1.0-liter, up to 80 hp; available with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT
  • 1.0-liter, 113 hp; available with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT
  • 1.6 HEV 6DCT hybrid (arriving 2027) combining a 1.6-liter GDI engine and an electric motor for a combined 136 hp and 265 Nm; features adaptive regenerative braking and steering-wheel paddle shifters to select regeneration level

Hyundai has not confirmed launch pricing or exact market dates for the refreshed model. The company says the Bayon will be targeted at European customers and assembled in Turkey. There will be no Bayon version for the American market. For reference, the current Bayon sells in Europe from about 16,000 euros, which the original report described as roughly $18,000 at the time of publication.
