Apple on 13 October 2026 introduced the Apple Home Collection, a set of smart home accessories co-developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric that includes four cameras, a smart lock, two thermostats and standalone temperature sensors. The announcement arrived alongside Apple’s HomeView smart display, the next-generation Apple TV 4K, and the HomePod mini 2, all featuring Siri AI.

Setup, connectivity and core features
Apple says every device in the Home Collection can be set up with a single tap of an iPhone and controlled entirely from the Home app or with Siri, with no separate app to download and no new account to create. All devices support Thread, a low-power mesh network designed for reliable local connectivity, and they automatically update network credentials if you change your Wi-Fi.

All four cameras record up to 2.5K video and offer on-device recognition for people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages. Apple states that footage history is stored in the user’s iCloud+ plan so there is no separate camera subscription required.

Cameras and lock
The LG Video Doorbell Wired pairs a 2.5K front camera with a Full HD bottom camera focused on packages, and it includes a built-in spotlight, two-way talk and a chime that plays through HomeView, HomePod or HomePod mini. The LG Floodlight Cam adds dual adaptive floodlights that activate when motion is detected and provides low-light color night vision. The LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In also offers low-light color night vision and is designed to be easy to angle and install. The LG Indoor Cam Plug-In has a 160 degree field of view and physically tilts up when you check in on your home, then tilts back down to stop monitoring as soon as the first person in the household arrives; it can also be tilted manually or from the Home app.

The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband, a short-range radio technology, to detect when an approaching iPhone or Apple Watch is nearby and unlock automatically without tapping. Users can also tap to unlock, use the built-in PIN pad, or fall back to a hidden physical key. According to Apple, the lock can report whether the door has been opened, closed or tampered with, and guest access can be shared through the Home app. The lock supports Matter and Aliro, and Apple says its core functions run locally so they continue to operate without an internet connection.

Thermostats, sensors and climate features
The LG Smart Thermostat and the Schneider Home Smart Thermostat both use Adaptive Temperature in the Home app, which adjusts heating and cooling depending on whether the household is home, asleep or away. Both thermostats are compatible with a broad range of HVAC systems and include on-device wire detection to simplify do-it-yourself installation. LG’s model is round, while Schneider’s has a small silver metal bezel and a translucent matte display that is meant to reduce glare. Schneider Electric says its thermostat can sense when someone is nearby and can be paired over NFC even when the unit is not powered.

Temperature and humidity can be read in multiple rooms using the sensors built into HomeView, HomePod and HomePod mini, or with the new LG Temperature Sensor and the Schneider Home Room Sensor, small standalone units sold separately. LG says its sensing algorithms are designed to reduce measurement errors and pick up temperature changes in real time, and Apple notes Matter over Thread is used to keep the sensor connections responsive.
Privacy, storage and hubs
Apple points out that Home app data, including camera footage, is end-to-end encrypted so Apple, LG and Schneider Electric cannot read it. Apple says footage is processed locally on a home hub or in Private Cloud Compute and that recordings are kept in iCloud for 10 days. A compatible home hub is required for those features, such as HomeView, a HomePod, a HomePod mini or an Apple TV 4K.

The Home Collection goes on sale in December, with select items following in early 2027. Prices in the United States are listed as follows: LG Video Doorbell Wired $249.95, LG Floodlight Cam $399.95, LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In $299.95, LG Indoor Cam Plug-In $199.95, and LG Smart Deadbolt Lock $349.95. The LG Smart Thermostat and the Schneider Home Smart Thermostat are $199.95 each, and the LG Temperature Sensor and the Schneider Home Room Sensor are $39.95 each. Apple says the cameras will be available in the US, Canada and the UK, while the lock, thermostats and sensors will be sold in the US and Canada for now.

Matter + Thread, local AI, nice. Still, $399 for a floodlight cam?? Apple pricing vibes. Hope the 1‑tap setup is actually painless and not a hussle.
No extra camera subscription?? Sounds great, but how solid is the on-device AI in practice? If the HomePod/hub flakes, does footage still sync or is it gone…
