Honda has revealed the RN0, its first motor-assisted bicycle and a formal entry into the electric mountain bike segment, presented at the EICMA show in Milan. The model is a collaborative effort with Germany-based ROTWILD and combines motorcycle-inspired design with high-end bicycle hardware.

Collaboration and market positioning
Honda described the RN0 as a premium product and said it represents the company’s formal step into motor-assisted bicycles. The bike was unveiled at EICMA in Milan and built in partnership with ROTWILD. Honda has not published availability dates or pricing.

Chassis, suspension and running gear
The RN0 uses a carbon monocoque frame that Honda says was inspired by motorcycle architecture and incorporates ROTWILD’s gullwing swingarm and linkage system. Wheel setup is 29 inches up front and 27.5 inches at the rear on DT Swiss rims, fitted with Schwalbe tires. Fox supplies the suspension, with a fork at the front and a rear shock, while Shimano provides the braking hardware.

Powertrain, electronics and specifications
Honda fitted the RN0 with a Shimano drive unit and a removable 720Wh battery. The motor is rated at 750W and 100 Nm of torque. The bike uses a 12-speed Shimano Deore XT Di2 drivetrain. Honda integrated a 2.2-inch display into the top tube and added a USB-C charging port; the RN0 is compatible with the Shimano Connect mobile app.
