Not exactly the upgrade fans expected

Back in March, whispers put the K100 Pro Max on track for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. Now the leak claims Redmi will ship the phone with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 instead. Is this a simple course correction or a pragmatic response to parts market pressure? Likely the latter. Gen 5 is cheaper. Chips are tight. Manufacturers juggle priorities.

Cutting cost on the SoC can free up budget. More money for RAM. More money for storage. Or for pricier display and camera modules. It’s a trade-off many brands have made before. The question becomes whether users will notice in everyday use.

Spec leaks around the rest of the package read like a modern flagship checklist with a few headline-grabbing extras.
