Apple opened pre-orders for the iPhone Duo on October 16, 2026, but availability was limited almost immediately; across multiple online stores the first available shipping date now reads January 22. The company had originally planned to begin shipping on October 23 after a week of pre-orders, so while some early buyers may still receive units on that date, most customers face a long delay.

Availability and supply

We checked Apple’s online stores in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, India, Australia, New Zealand and China, and all showed a January 22 shipping estimate regardless of color or storage configuration. Attempts to select different color and storage combinations did not produce earlier dates. That the higher-priced 1TB and 2TB variants do not show better shipping windows than cheaper models suggests an overall constrained supply rather than shortages limited to specific configurations. The shortage also reflects strong demand for Apple’s first foldable, including purchases by buyers for whom price is not a limiting factor.

If you prefer not to wait for online delivery, you can try local Apple retail stores; the online ordering page lists the pickup notice: "Pickup: Check back for availability on October 24." It is also possible that some third-party retailers will receive stock separate from Apple’s allocations. The Duo is offered in Star White and Night Sky finishes.

Analyst Jeff Pu warned last month that the iPhone Duo would be hard to buy this year because of limited supply. Pu estimates production at 6 million units for the year, down from an initial target of 7 million. For context, Apple is expected to sell a combined 72 million units of the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max by the end of this year.

The first wave of pre-orders covers more than 70 countries and regions, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey, the UAE, the UK, the US and Vietnam.
