Monterey will smell like hot carbon and ambition this August. Audi is bringing the Nuvolari to two of the peninsula's most exclusive stages, and the car arrives like a statement: this is not just an R8 successor, it is a different kind of performance manifesto.

A rare hybrid that reads like a racing prototype

Stamped with Lamborghini-derived hardware and Audi engineering, the Nuvolari is a plug-in hybrid supercar built in a world of strict limits: 499 examples only. That scarcity is deliberate. Collectors will feel it the moment they step close to the composite bodywork and exposed carbon options that purposely echo endurance prototypes.

The headline numbers are dramatic but not the whole story. Audi quotes a combined 987 horsepower, which it lists as 1,001 metric horsepower. Under the sculpted skin sits a flat-plane V8 that delivers 789 horsepower on its own, paired with a dual-clutch transmission and three electric drive units. Each axial-flux motor can put out up to 148 horsepower, and the lightweight high-voltage battery measures 7.3 kilowatt-hours gross.

Two days later it moves to the Concept Lawn at Pebble Beach for the Concours d'Elegance's 75th anniversary, giving a broader public and international media a close look at the model priced at €600,000, which equates to roughly €651,000 in US-market terms at current rates.

Audi of America will supplement those public showings with invitation-only viewings for vetted collectors and potential buyers seeking a North American allocation. Specialists from design, engineering, and product teams will be on hand to explain personalization options, the carbon structure, the hybrid system, and the hand-finished details that justify the Nuvolari’s exclusivity.
