They look like sunglasses that wandered into a jeweler's workshop and decided to stay. Caviar has taken Meta's Ray-Ban Wayfarer II smart glasses and dressed them in 24-unit luxury: gold, silver, and crocodile leather.

The new line is called Odyssey. Think ornate plaques and hand-engraved flourishes on a frame millions already know. But this is not about changing the tech inside. It is about turning a wearable into a conversation piece — something you don before a gala, not a jog.

Small runs, big symbolism

There are two models. One features decorative plaques plated in 24-karat gold. The other swaps those accents for 22-karat sterling silver inserts. Both sit on the standard black Wayfarer frame, with Greek-inspired engravings and star-shaped black enamel on the temples. The metal details are forged, engraved, and polished by hand.

Only 24 units of each version will be made. A deliberate choice. The number echoes the 24 books of Homer’s Odyssey. Even the charging case gets a makeover: Caviar wraps the standard Ray-Ban case in black crocodile leather and fits it with the firm's emblem on the clasp.

Under the gilding, the hardware is unchanged. The camera, sensors, processors, battery, open-ear speakers, touch controls, and voice assistant work exactly as they do on the retail Wayfarer II. Photos, video, calls — all the same. What changes is largely surface-level. What does that mean for day-to-day use? It means you get a statement piece that behaves like familiar smart glasses.

One practical question remains unanswered. Caviar hasn’t published the added weight from the metalwork. And weight matters with eyewear. A heavy frame can turn novelty into nuisance by the end of a long day.

Price and availability are simple to read. The gold Odyssey is priced at €5,640. The silver Odyssey costs €6,293. Both are available now from Caviar's online store, and production will remain strictly limited.

If you follow Caviar's catalog, this is in line with their choreography of tech and opulence. The firm recently released an ultra-luxury Galaxy Z Fold 8 line featuring cinematic icons and rolled out limited-edition phones celebrating Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, complete with 24-karat gold finishes.

Style or substance? The Odyssey answers with both, but in unequal measure. It hands you the same smart-glass features you may already trust, wrapped in craft and theatre. For collectors and brand-conscious buyers, that package will be irresistible. For everyday users who prioritize comfort and minimalism, the price — literal and figurative — deserves a hard look.

Limited run, lavish finish, familiar tech inside.
