Lexus RX Morizo RR Renderings Aim at X5 M and RS Q8

Picture the RX with a meaner stance, hips flared, sitting lower on the road and looking ready to pounce. That is exactly the vibe carried by new digital renderings based on spy shots of Lexus' upcoming Morizo RR variant, created after clever cleaning up of the test mule images posted online.

The masked prototype was busy hiding clues, but the pixel work stripped away the chaotic vinyl and revealed a much tougher crossover. The grille keeps the family shape but adopts a different mesh and a blacked-out logo. The side vents have been opened up into functional gills, and a sharper chin spoiler with additional center intake and winglets gives the front end a more purposeful expression.

Design touches that matter on road and track

Look closer and the changes multiply. The hood and front fenders read familiar, yet new arch trim and pronounced side skirts push the RX into performance territory. A roof-mounted spoiler persists, while the rear is reworked with a multi-fin diffuser, sculpted blades and cutouts for twin exhausts. It all reads less crossover and more sport SUV.

Underneath the visual bravado there are expected mechanical upgrades too. The test vehicle sat noticeably lower than a standard RX, hinting at a firmed and retuned chassis. Wider tracks, bespoke wheels and larger brakes complete the package, suggesting Lexus wants this version to trade paint with the BMW X5 M, Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 and Audi RS Q8 on twisty roads and occasional track days.

Spy photos showed V-spoke alloys in anthracite wrapped around red Brembo calipers with white branding. The scooped prototype ran 21-inch wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires: 265/40 at the front and 295/35 at the rear. Those are serious contact patches for an RX-sized machine.

Powertrain and the numbers people want

Rumors point to a potent all-wheel drive hybrid built around Toyota's new 2.0-liter four-cylinder, augmented by twin electric motors. Total system output is being talked about at roughly 600 horsepower. It is the kind of figure that forces respect from rivals and gives the Morizo RR the credentials to mix it up with performance SUVs that have historically dominated the segment.

Expect the Morizo RR to arrive as part of the RX's mid-cycle refresh. Lexus will likely introduce the facelifted mainstream RX first, then unveil the Morizo RR variant afterward. Industry chatter places the sport model's reveal around 2028, though Lexus has not confirmed dates or specs yet.

For context, the current 2026 RX lineup in the United States lists starting MSRPs converted to euros roughly as follows: the base gasoline RX at about €49,076, the hybrid from around €51,251, the plug-in hybrid near €62,075 and the F Sport beginning at roughly €53,270. Those figures help frame where a high-performance Morizo RR might sit in the range.
