Motorola launched the Motorola Signature 27 yesterday, and DXOMARK’s 6th Edition image benchmark has already placed its camera second in the global ranking with a score of 173. That puts the new model ahead of the Apple iPhone 18 Pro, which scored 172, and behind the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra, which scored 175.
The result represents a nine point improvement over the original Motorola Signature, which scored 164 in the same benchmark. DXOMARK had previously compared the first Signature with the iPhone 17 Pro and the Vivo X300 Pro, but the Signature 27 moves Motorola much closer to the top of the list.
According to DXOMARK, the Signature 27 delivers balanced, reliable results across stills and video, with particular strength in portraits. Faces are reported to show natural skin tones, accurate exposure, and substantial detail. The reviewer notes the camera handles group shots well, keeping people in focus when subjects stand at different distances.

The telephoto module is highlighted as another strong element. The phone uses a 3x optical zoom, meaning magnification is achieved through the lens rather than digital cropping, and DXOMARK says image quality remains good up to roughly 6x.
Video performance is described as consistent with the stills results. DXOMARK finds footage typically has accurate exposure and natural looking colours, with noise generally well controlled when recording static scenes.
Where the Signature 27 falls short
DXOMARK also identifies situations where the camera struggles. Distant subjects lose noticeable detail when zoomed, and extremely dark scenes can produce colour shifts and reduced detail in parts of the image. Fast moving subjects can appear blurry, which limits the phone’s reliability for action shots. These weaknesses affect video as well, where moving subjects or busy scenes captured in very low light show more visible noise.
With 173 points, the Signature 27 sits two points below the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra and one point above the iPhone 18 Pro in DXOMARK's latest camera rankings.
