The Next BMW X6 Renders: Sleek, Sloped, and Familiar

Imagine a silhouette that refuses to be practical. Slower roofline. Sharper stance. That is the first impression these new renderings give of BMW's next X6.

After BMW unveiled the all-new X5, artist @sugardesign_1 on Instagram took the obvious next step and dressed that fresh design in coupe-SUV clothes. The result looks like an X6 that grew up with Neue Klasse styling but kept its attitude intact.

What changed, and what stayed the same

The face is instantly familiar. Tiny kidney grilles sit between headlights with an X-shaped light signature, matching the X5's new front fascia. The bumper repeats the same generous central intake and side vents, and door handles tuck flush into the bodywork. Long story short: up front, this X6 could pass for its archrival's sibling.

The profile is where BMW leans into the coupe idea. The roof drops dramatically after the C-pillars. Side windows are reworked to follow the slope. The rear glass is more arched than before and the roof spoiler is understated rather than chunky. Wheels look larger, the paint is a matte white, and the rear adopts taillight graphics that echo the latest BMW iX5, paired with an aggressive bumper design.

Inside, expect no surprises if BMW follows the same formula. The render imagines the same widescreen layout that stretches low under the windshield, a central infotainment tower, a three-dimensional head-up display, and even an optional passenger screen around 14.6 inches. Steering wheel, center console, switchgear, and door panels appear unchanged from the X5. In other words, the X6 will feel like the X5 wearing a different jacket.

Powertrain lineups look shared as well. Think a 3.0 liter turbocharged unit, plug-in hybrid variants, and an electric version likely badged iX6. BMW is also developing hydrogen powertrains for its larger crossovers, and a V8 M Performance model seems probable. If history is any guide, the X6 will mirror the X5 under the skin while offering a sportier character above it.

There is comfort in predictability here. The design shown could be largely what arrives when BMW decides to introduce the coupe sibling. But predictability does not mean dull. This X6 plays the same notes as the X5 while tuning them for drivers who value presence over cargo space.
