Renault revealed the all-new Trafic Van E-Tech electric at the 2026 IAA Transportation show in Hannover, presenting it as the Renault Group's first software-defined van.
Renault says the Trafic Van E-Tech is the first LCV in Europe to use a simplified architecture that replaces 80 ECUs with two supercomputers running CAR OS, an Android-based operating system developed with Google.
"New Trafic Van E-Tech electric is more than just a new addition to our range. It represents a true game changer in the European LCV market, delivering more technologies, more services, and more conversions. It fully embodies this strategy and marks a breakthrough for the customers in the electric van market," explains Jan Ptacek, VP, Renault LCV.
The model is built on Renault Group's RGEV medium van platform and uses an 800-volt electrical architecture. Renault says fast charging can recover up to 280 km of range, or up to 380 km in city conditions.
Renault quotes a maximum range of up to 470 km on a single charge pending WLTP homologation (292 miles). In urban use the company cites up to 690 km (429 miles).
The Trafic Van E-Tech is produced at Renault's Sandouville plant in France. A panel-van version will be available by the end of 2026, with chassis-cab and crew-cab variants arriving in 2027.
Renault notes the Trafic nameplate has sold more than 2.8 million units since its 1980 debut.
The van has a turning circle of 10.3 meters and a height of 1.89 meters to access most underground car parks.
Trafic Van E-Tech is the first of five new LCVs Renault plans to launch under its futuREady plan through 2028. Renault says the programme aims to cut ownership costs while improving EV efficiency and working conditions.
The IAA Transportation show runs in Hannover from September 15 to 20, 2026.
