ABT Turns Audi RS Q8 into a 1000 hp Anniversary Beast

The scene at ABT's workshop feels cinematic: carbon panels stacked like armor, technicians hunched over a snarling V8, and a small metal plaque that will one day declare a serial number. This is not a mere parts upgrade. It's a birthday present—130 years of tuning distilled into one super-SUV.

What ABT changed and why it matters

Start with the heart. The factory 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 was already formidable. ABT treated it as raw material. Custom turbos, a beefed-up intercooler and a water-methanol injection system join an electronics map tuned for maximum response. The result: a peak output pushed to the 1000-horsepower mark when the cooling system is engaged. Short bursts? Expect neck-snapping thrust. Long runs? The methanol system helps keep temperatures in check so power stays usable.

Handling was not afterthought. Engineers reworked the four-corner air suspension and added new logic to the 48-volt active anti-roll system to tame body roll and improve high-speed stability. Top speed rises to about 320 kilometers per hour, roughly 16 km/h quicker than the standard RS Q8. That speed requires more than power. ABT's aerodynamic kit—matte carbon fiber across splitters, scoops, hood vents, fender outlets, an aggressive rear diffuser and a roof spoiler—manages heat and downforce in equal measure.

Visual cues are loud and deliberate. Massive 23-inch wheels finished in gold give the SUV a stage presence that matches the figures on the dyno. Inside, matte carbon accents appear on paddles and shifters, Alcantara wraps the wheel, and embroidered ABT logos with LE 1000 stitching announce the special nature of the cabin. A commemorative metal badge on the center console carries the vehicle's serial number and a hint of exclusivity.

Numbers matter, and ABT is transparent about them. The performance package itself is priced at 165,000 euros with an additional 20,000 euros for installation, bringing the upgrade cost to 185,000 euros. Add the standard Audi RS Q8's base price of about 129,715 euros and the total climbs to roughly 314,715 euros. That puts ABT's limited-run monster in the same neighborhood as a fully optioned Lamborghini Urus in terms of what buyers will spend.

Only 30 examples are slated for production. Which raises the obvious question: who is this for? Collectors who want an Audi chassis with unconstrained power. Tuners who appreciate engineering that goes beyond cosmetic flair. Enthusiasts who prefer a rare, mechanically extreme take on a performance SUV.

ABT hasn't simply bolted on parts and called it a day. This project reads like a concentrated statement about what boutique tuning can achieve when heritage, ambition and technical depth align. The upgrade packs in mechanical reinforcements, software calibration and thermal management so the RS Q8 can actually handle its newfound appetite for speed.

It isn't subtle. But then, neither is 1000 horsepower. For the buyers who secure one of these 30 cars, it will be an audacious mix of luxury and unrepentant power, a machine that wears its history on the hood and its engineering on the road.
