ABT RS5-R: Audi RS5 Avant Tuned to 720 hp and 904 Nm

ABT's RS5-R upgrade brings the Audi RS5 to 720 hp and 904 Nm in a 130-unit limited run, pairing a 2.9L V6 enhanced by ABT Power S with the RS5’s 177 hp gearbox motor, plus a full carbon aero kit.

ABT has pushed the Audi RS5’s drivetrain to a headline figure: the RS5-R produces a combined 720 horsepower and 904 newton metres of torque.

The RS5-R is a limited-run upgrade based on the current RS5, and ABT says it will build just 130 examples. The core of the upgrade is ABT’s Power S electronic kit, which raises the 2.9 litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine’s output from 510 to 590 hp and increases its torque from 600 to 680 Nm. The 177 hp electric motor housed in the gearbox remains unchanged; together the two systems yield the quoted 720 hp and 904 Nm. ABT has not published an official 0–100 km/h time; the standard RS5 is rated at 3.6 seconds.

Production will be strictly limited to 130 cars.

Aerodynamics and exterior

The RS5-R’s exterior is comprehensively revised with a full carbon fibre bodykit that includes a pronounced front spoiler, new side skirts, rear diffuser and a large fixed rear wing. Small details — gloss mirror covers, aerodynamic blades front and rear and large air intakes in the front wings — are explicitly referenced by ABT as visually recalling the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Carbon panels are offered in either a clear glossy finish or a camouflage-style treatment, and ABT fits sport springs and 22-inch wheels to give the estate a more aggressive stance. ABT says it made no changes to the braking system.

ABT offers the RS5-R package for both sedan and estate bodystyles; the estate is presented as the sportiest and most visually extreme of the two in the company’s release.

Interior and specification

Inside, the RS5-R receives extensive use of Dinamica microfibre across the centre console, dashboard and seat frames. Carbon-finish shift paddles and bespoke floor mats embroidered with the RS5-R logo accompany numbered plaques denoting each car’s place in the 1-of-130 run.

The upgrade kit is available as an after-market package or as a turnkey car bought from ABT. Prices for the upgrade kit, excluding the donor vehicle, paintwork and installation, start at 62,000 euros for the sedan and 65,000 euros for the estate. If a buyer purchases a fully prepped car directly from ABT — including the base vehicle, installation, paint and TUV approval certificates — the company lists a final price of 184,020 euros.

ABT also says it plans further hardware and power upgrades in mid-2027, including an Akrapovic exhaust and a new performance kit designed to push output toward 800 hp.
