It arrives like a familiar stranger. At first glance you might assume it's wearing Audi DNA. Look closer and you see Chery's badge sitting where the four rings would be. The automaker has dropped official images of the second-generation Arizo 7 ahead of its public debut at the Chengdu Auto Show, and the result is hard to ignore.
When design borrows confidence
The new Arizo 7 is a fastback sedan with lines that nod heavily to European design language. Up front there's a softened take on Audi's wide grille, flanked by narrow, knife-edged headlights. Those lights recall the new Audi A6 in silhouette, while their internal graphics lean more toward the Volkswagen T‑Roc. From the side the proportions read like a front-wheel-drive car: simple body creases, five-spoke wheels, conventional door handles, and a sloping roof that settles into a full-width LED rear light bar.

It looks a lot like Chery's electric Fulwin A9, but stripped of some of the high-tech flourishes you find on more expensive models—no hidden handles, and no visible complex driver-assistance sensors. Honest design. No smoke and mirrors.
Chery first sold the Arizo 7 between 2013 and 2018. Then production stopped. Now, after eight years, the nameplate is back in a very different shape. Fun fact: the car sold here as the Respect is still based on the previous-generation Arizo 7, so the new one marks a clean break for that familiar name.
Technical details are scarce. Chery hasn’t released engine specs, but local outlets suggest this Arizo 7 will stick to conventional petrol power without hybrid systems. That would place it below the brand’s Arizo 8 and Arizo 8 Pro, which use 1.5 and 2.0-liter turbo engines and are priced between €14,800 and €19,000.

Design cues aren’t new for Chery. A few months ago the automaker showed the Arizo S concept, a dramatic preview that borrowed a muscular grille from the RS6, body lines from the A5, and lighting motifs from the A7. Expect that concept to feed a coupe-like production model down the line.
What matters here is intent: Chery is sharpening its design voice by leaning into premium cues while keeping costs sensible. The Arizo 7 may not be revolutionary under the skin, but it shows how style can shift perceptions fast.
Will buyers forgive the homage if the price and equipment line up? That will be the real test when the car lands on showrooms.
