Imagine a crowded lot at Roadkill Nights and a Durango that refuses to blend in. That’s the point. Dodge isn’t ready to give up on the third-generation Durango, even if a full redesign won’t arrive until 2029. So the brand is doing what it does best: dressing the SUV in attitude.

Paint, personality, and a one-off that steals the show

Meet the Smokescreen Concept: a two-tone Durango R/T 392 with Cryo Blue brushed over white, 20-inch Y-spoke wheels, and a bold "392" graphic placed low on the doors where traditional fender badges used to sit. Amber daytime running lights and dark-finished exhaust tips complete the look. Inside, Petrol Blue Laguna leather meets suede-wrapped steering and carbon-fiber accents. It’s theatrical by design, and yes, it’s a one-off built to turn heads at Pontiac, Michigan.

The heart of that concept remains brutally familiar. Under the hood sits the 6.4-liter HEMI V8, rated at 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, routed through all-wheel drive. Numbers that still matter: 0 to 60 mph in about 4.4 seconds, quarter mile in 12.9 seconds. Muscle, but coated in new paint.

Dodge is leaning on paint and personalization to keep the Durango relevant until a full redesign arrives in 2029.

Beyond the concept car, Dodge has launched a Color Jailbreak program to give buyers bolder exterior choices. New shades include Toxic Orange and Redeye — the latter previously reserved for Charger buyers. There’s also a new application called Tinted Dual Stripes, a technique that lets the underlying color peek through the stripe for a layered, lived-in effect.

The richer palette keeps classics and fan favorites too: B5 Blue, Destroyer Grey, Green Machine, Night Moves, Pitch Black, Red Oxide, and White Knuckle will remain available. Expect showroom examples like a Durango GT HEMI in Redeye with Tinted Dual Stripes and a Brass Monkey package, alongside a Hellcat Jailbreak in Toxic Orange at the Roadkill Nights lineup.

Why all the cosmetics? Sales tell the story. The Durango has been Dodge’s top seller since 2024 after the brand ended Charger and Challenger production. In 2025 Durango sales jumped 37 percent to 81,168 units — the model’s best annual result in two decades — and in the first half of 2026 the SUV accounted for roughly 90 percent of Dodge’s sales. When a model carries that much weight, you refresh what you can while you plan the next generation.

Pricing details for the new colors and packages haven’t been released, though CEO Matt McAlear promises options that are "more affordable than ever," aimed at putting personalization within reach rather than behind a boutique paywall. For reference, the Durango lineup today starts at about €35,915, with HEMI-equipped models beginning near €40,211. At the extreme end sits the Hellcat Jailbreak, the 710-horsepower halo, starting around €76,894.

Short version: Dodge is buying time with style. The Durango you know and many buyers still love gets louder, brighter, and more individual without changing the bones that made it successful. For a brand waiting on its next big architectural reset, color is a quick, effective way to keep the spotlight.

Cryo Blue over white is bizarre in the best way. HEMI still roaring, and the options sound way more fun than a bland trim level. I'd want that Brass Monkey pack lol

So they just paint it louder until 2029? Cute move, but paint and stripes really enough when the underpinnings are the same? Curious if buyers bite or its just hype.
