Huawei is reportedly preparing the Mate X8 for a China launch in November 2026, with in-house Kirin 9050 chips and a battery exceeding 6,000mAh.
Design and display
According to Chinese tipster Bai Ze Guan Shan, the Mate X8 will follow the Mate X series’ book-style foldable design and retain a circular rear camera module. The device is tipped to offer a 6.5-inch external cover display and an 8.15-inch inner screen. A privacy-focused display variant is also reportedly under consideration, a feature described as useful for users who want to limit what is visible on-screen in public settings.
Cameras, battery and chipset
The camera setup, as circulated in the tip, could centre on a 50-megapixel SC595 primary sensor measuring 1/1.28 inches, paired with a variable aperture and Huawei’s RYYB colour filter array. RYYB replaces the traditional green pixel arrangement with yellow to increase light capture, a detail noted for context. A 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera is also tipped, though Huawei has not confirmed the complete configuration.

Battery capacity is expected to be a notable upgrade, with reports indicating a pack larger than 6,000mAh to support the larger foldable display and more demanding use cases. On the chipset side, the Mate X8 is said to ship in configurations using the Kirin 9050 and the Kirin 9050 Pro, which would extend Huawei’s recent trend of deploying its in-house processors. The reports add that the wider availability of Kirin chips in recent launches suggests production may be scaling, but the extent of any manufacturing improvements remains unclear.
Huawei had reportedly planned to unveil the Mate X8 in November alongside a rumoured new sub-brand called Xingmang, but the launch timeline for that brand is uncertain and it is not clear whether both will appear at the same event. Pricing has not been confirmed, though the Mate X8 is expected to target the premium foldable segment.
