WhatsApp is testing sound-enabled stickers and a redesigned two-line message input for Android, with further tweaks to sticker borders also in development. WABetaInfo first detected the audio-sticker feature in the Android beta version 2.26.41.3, and Android Authority later enabled and demonstrated it from an install file for version 2.26.41.11.

How the audio stickers work and the interface change
Stickers created from still images can include up to 10 seconds of recorded audio or an imported audio file. Recipients play the attached sound by tapping a speaker icon on the sticker. Stickers made from short video clips will carry five seconds of the clip's original audio by default; users can replace that segment with a different audio file if they prefer. The reports note that WhatsApp is also working on removing the outer border that appears around stickers, a visual change currently under development.

The new message-box design moves the text-entry field to the top line and places shortcut buttons on a lower line, giving users a larger area for typing. All of these changes remain in testing and WhatsApp has not announced a final release date.
WABetaInfo identified the features in beta 2.26.41.3, and Android Authority showed further details from build 2.26.41.11; testing is ongoing and no final launch date has been provided.
