Apple says more than 100,000 apps built for the iPhone Duo are already live on the App Store roughly two weeks after the handset began shipping, and the company reports thousands of optimized titles are being added each day.
Developer adoption and featured apps
Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, says developers have moved quickly to embrace the handset. Recent examples named by Apple include Microsoft Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, and Word, along with Etsy, GoodNotes, Halide Mark III, NBA, NHL, Zoom, Amazon Prime Video, Fantastical, Flighty, Instagram, MLB, Netflix, SmartGym, WhatsApp, and YouTube.

Tools, workshops, and platform support
Apple says it has run more than 50 in-person workshops in 19 cities over the past month, with over 2,000 developers attending in total, to accelerate optimization work. According to the company, apps built with standard SwiftUI and UIKit components can adapt automatically to each display on the Duo, while new APIs address custom layouts and hinge poses.
Compatibility gaps and remaining work
Apple notes older app builds continue to run on the Duo but do not always fill the inner display the way fully optimized apps do. With millions of titles on the App Store overall, many apps remain unoptimized; Google Maps is one example that only recently added Duo support, according to Apple. The company says the pace of updates should continue to climb.
