Huawei has pushed HarmonyOS into a new segment, equipping an inexpensive roofed electric three-wheeler with a HarmonyOS-based smart cabin system. The vehicle was revealed at the HarmonyOS 2026 ecosystem conference in Shenzhen and received official certification of full compatibility with Huawei's software ecosystem.

In the project Huawei served solely as the software supplier; design, development and commercialization are the responsibility of Huaihai.

The added software enables advanced voice commands to operate systems such as ventilation and navigation, while a dedicated mobile app lets riders locate the vehicle, lock and unlock doors remotely and monitor the technical condition of components.

No official retail price has been announced. Comparable roofed three-wheel models in China typically sell for about 10,000 yuan (roughly $1,500).

Intense competition in China’s new-vehicle market has driven down the effective cost of developing connected software, a dynamic that is putting smart features into even the most affordable small-vehicle segments.

Roofed three-wheelers commonly use small 2.1 kWh batteries and deliver roughly 30 to 50 km of range, making them a frequent choice for seniors and short local trips.
