Small Rogue: Ram's TRX-Inspired Rampage Ignition Debut

Think of a muscle truck shrunk in a photocopier and you get the idea: Ram has dressed its compact Rampage pickup in a TRX costume. It looks the part—ferocious fender flares, blacked-out trim, and a striking ocean metallic blue—but it keeps the modest four-cylinder heart of the Rampage family.

TRX drama on a compact frame

The Ignition is a Brazil-only special that borrows the theatrical cues of the full-size TRX and grafts them onto the Rampage Rebel’s off-road stance. Matte black hood graphics, contrasting black roof and mirrors, 17-inch aluminum wheels and a sport bar in the bed give it instant presence. Ram even lifted the Rebel’s aggressive bumpers, skid plates, and black grille straight onto this edition.

Inside, the Rampage Ignition blends sporty details with premium touches. Black leather and suede cover the seats and cabin trims, while blue stitching stitches the steering wheel, door panels, center console and dash. Aluminum trim brightens the cockpit, and a numbered plaque on the dashboard marks the model’s exclusivity.

Equipment is modern and practical: a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, illuminated running boards with the Ram logo, rubber floor mats, seven airbags and an advanced driver-assist suite rated at level 2 plus.

Only 400 units will be produced.

Looks don’t change the plumbing

Don’t expect a boost in performance. The Ignition is a visual exercise, not an upgrade in power. Under the hood it carries the same pair of familiar four-cylinder engines offered across the Rampage line. The gasoline option is a 2.0-liter turbo unit tuned for flex fuel use, delivering about 276 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. The diesel choice is a 2.2-liter turbocharged unit with roughly 203 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Both engines pair with a nine-speed automatic and come standard with four-wheel drive, an electronic differential lock and a heavy-duty drive mode.

Tires are the same sticky Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus rubber used on the Rebel. The chassis remains the unibody Small Wide platform that Ram shares with the Fiat Toro, Jeep Compass, Jeep Commander, Alfa Romeo Tonale and Dodge Hornet. In short: the Ignition borrows the TRX’s grin but keeps the Rampage’s bones.

Ram revealed the Ignition at the Interlagos festival in Brazil, parading it alongside the full-size TRX and the rest of its pickup range.

Pricing in Brazil starts at 250,990 Brazilian reals for the petrol version and 270,990 reals for the diesel. The euro equivalents are approximately €45,400 and €48,900 respectively.

Why would you want this truck? If you crave TRX looks without the fuel bills or the supercharged V8, the Ignition offers theatrical styling with everyday drivability. It’s a badge of attitude for drivers who want to stand out in urban and suburban streets without stepping into full-size truck ownership.

Ram’s move is simple and savvy: give the compact Rampage a stronger visual personality, keep the known mechanicals, and sell a limited run to collectors and brand fans. The result is a small pickup that feels louder than its horsepower suggests.
