Xiaomi Skynomed N90: 7-Seat SUV That Doubles as a Camper

Imagine pulling off a highway at dusk, lowering the tailgate and, in minutes, turning your seven-seat SUV into a living room with a bed long enough for two. That’s the scene Xiaomi is selling with the Skynomed N90 — not just an electric SUV, but a mobile retreat for road trips that refuses to behave like yesterday’s boxy, immovable family hauler.

How Xiaomi rethought the SUV interior

The N90 is big in every sense: 5.3 metres long, two electric motors producing a combined 416 horsepower, and four-wheel drive to pull the whole idea together. A 76 kWh battery delivers about 464 kilometres of pure electric range. But the clever part arrives when the small petrol range-extender fires up. The combined system stretches total range to an eye-catching 1,705 kilometres.

Designers started with a simple question: why should people squeeze into fixed cabin geometry? Instead of locking the architecture around a fixed drivetrain and then accepting whatever space is left, Xiaomi inverted the process. Space requirements came first. The floor is flat. Seats sit on dedicated rails. That creates flexibility, not excuses.

Practicality matters. The basic layout seats seven and still reserves room for a small travel suitcase per passenger. Second- and third-row seats fold completely flat. The front seats rotate a full 180 degrees, allowing the cabin to morph into a lounge or a single sleeping surface that measures 230 centimetres from end to end. It’s living-room calm inside a vehicle that’s built to roam.

Option packs push the camper vibe further. A sliding center console can be fitted with a 9-litre fridge that holds ten cans, and a fold-away dining table folds out for meals at rest stops. Little touches like those complete the idea: this car isn’t an SUV that sometimes camps. It’s a campsite disguised as an SUV.

Performance is straightforward and useful. Two electric motors give strong acceleration and permanent all-wheel drive grip. The 76 kWh battery still handles everyday commuting on its own, while the range-extender addresses the anxiety of long-distance driving and rural legs where chargers are scarce. That gives owners choice: silent electric town driving or extended mixed-mode tours without range worry.

There’s also a smaller sibling. Xiaomi will sell a five-seat Skynomed N70 as a simpler, more compact option. Prices have been converted to euros for clarity: the seven-seat Skynomed N90 starts at about €40,900, while the five-seat N70 is priced near €35,400.

Does the N90 redefine the category? It doesn’t aim to please purists who measure vehicles only by lap times or curb weight. Instead, it targets people who want one vehicle to do more: daily school runs, weekend escapes, and long cross-country trips where a comfortable night’s sleep is part of the itinerary. That’s a different kind of usefulness, and Xiaomi has engineered every inch of the cabin to serve it.
